DAY 1
09:00: SNOWSHOEING AND ICE-FISHING TOUR (4 hours)
This tour allows you to experience Lapland nature at its best with two local activities combined: snowshoeing through the forests and ice-fishing on an immense frozen lake. Your guide will drive you around 20 kilometres away from Rovaniemi to find the perfect peaceful place to start your trip. Before heading into the forests, you will be given some instructions on how to use the snowshoes and walk on snow. As you snowshoe through the quiet snowy landscapes, you will already feel the harmony of Lapland nature that surrounds you. Soon you will end up in an immense open area made of ice and snow. It is time to find a promising spot on the lake and try to catch your lunch! Your guide will help you drill your hole in the ice, and will teach you the basic techniques of how to ice-fish. Then, it is just a matter of time and patience before you can feel the first bites! This is just the perfect moment to appreciate the silence that reigns over the lake. Campfire snacks (and your fish grilled if you catch one!) included.
EVENING: NORTHERN LIGHTS WILDERNESS TOUR WITH CAMERA (4 hours)
Get ready to experience the beauty of the Aurora Borealis! The weather forecasts and the solar activity reports are always checked during the day so that we can adapt the departure of the tour and get the best chance to observe the Northern Lights. You will be informed in due time about your pick-up time and your Aurora expert will come to collect you directly from your accommodation.
This excursion will offer you the opportunity to head into the Lapland wilderness and explore the Arctic nature. You may embark with your guide on different routes that will always lead you to the fantastic scenery. You may take a short walk through the very old, white and snowy forest or to the top of some fells, you may cross a hanging wooden bridge over powerful rapids, you may also enjoy the silence on a lake beach or may stand in the middle of an immensity of ice and snow… Hopefully, with Auroras dancing over your heads! Your guide will always check the weather conditions and you may decide to try another location if you are willing to. As this excursion is an Aurora hunt, you may get the chance to visit up to 3 locations and increase your chance to observe the Northern Lights.
We invite you to take your own camera with you to capture the Auroras. In all cases, your guide will be equipped with a professional camera and will take as many pictures as possible (feel free to ask him!) of you and the Northern Lights. A link to download all the pictures will be sent to you the next day. The Northern Lights Wilderness Tour lasts 4 hours. At the end of the tour, you will be dropped off at your accommodation.

Once you arrive with your guide to the farm, you will be invited to take a sit in a sleigh pulled by a reindeer (please note that this option is only possible from November to March as the safari needs enough snow to operate). The reindeer sleigh ride is an old way of travelling or carrying loads. As you will go through the snowy forest and white scenery, you might spot some other Arctic animals. When you come back from the safari, a warm cup of coffee or tea and traditional snacks will wait for you on the farm. The herder will explain to you about their lifestyle and reindeer husbandry – this is the best time to ask questions and feed your curiosity!

EVENING: SKI TREKKING SAFARI UNDER THE NORTHERN LIGHTS (3 hours 30 minutes)
Tonight, you will enjoy an evening backcountry ski trekking safari to explore untouched Arctic nature. Backcountry skiing, or off-piste skiing, is a great way to explore remote areas of Lapland covered in deep snow. Unlike alpine skiing and cross-country skiing, which are practised on groomed trails, backcountry skiing allows you for a more adventurous trip through hilly terrains, forests and lakes. As the skis are equipped with skin, they allow you to go uphill, and downhill without excessive speed. Like snowshoeing, it does not require much practice to get used to the gear and to the techniques to slide on deep snow. This makes it very comfortable and easy to use, even for beginners!
Your guide will choose a location that best fits the level and the needs of the group, but also that allows you to get a good chance to see Northern Lights if they appear. They will also provide you with safety instructions and teach you some techniques on how to use the skis on fresh snow. Refreshments and a typical Finnish campfire snack will be provided halfway, as your guide will lit a fire to keep you warm.
DAY 6
9:00 KOROUOMA CANYON FROZEN WATERFALLS (7 hours)
Korouoma is a 30-kilometres long and up to 130-meters deep canyon located 110 kilometres southeast of Rovaniemi. It offers breathtaking scenery all year round, with its cliffs, rapids and waterfalls. This natural reserve is also home to rare species, and a great nature area for hikers. In the wintertime, the waterfalls turn into fantastic ice formations which are well-known for ice-climbing and a great attraction for tourists coming from all around the world.
Your guide will drive you to Korouoma Canyon for a nice hike in the national park. You will have the chance to observe some of the most spectacular frozen waterfalls in Europe and enjoy the beauty of snowy nature. As you hike across the canyon, your guide will keep an eye on wildlife and flora and will teach you more about nature and your surroundings. With a bit of luck, you may even spot tracks made by wolves, lynx, wolverines, moose, reindeer, weasels, Arctic hare… Refreshments and a typical Finnish campfire snacks are included.
